For nearly 15 years, she worked in newsrooms across Canada, most recently covering the nation’s capital as a reporter and TV news anchor in Ottawa.
Building on her love of storytelling, today Megan helps others navigate the media landscape as the Director of Brand Marketing and Media Relations at Syntax Strategic.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received, and who gave it to you?
A mentor told me to work hard, be kind, and allow yourself to grow.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after a busy day?
A long walk or meeting up with friends.
What’s the most unexpected thing you’ve learned about yourself in the past year?
Life does not go by the plans and timelines you have made, so be open. 🙂
What’s the best book you’ve read recently, and what impact did it have on you?
Woman on the Edge of Time for a project. Always interesting to consider another lens/perspective even via a fictional novel.
Where do you find inspiration?
I’m lucky to be surrounded by very creative people in my personal and professional life.
If you could change one thing about the professional landscape for women, what would it be and why?
Not only do I want to see women in high positions, but I want to see them provided with the right training and guidance to go along with it.
What is one material item you can’t live without?
Does your phone count? If not, I am going blanket!!!!
If you could go back in time and give your teenage self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Just relax — everything will happen as it should.
What is something you could talk about for hours?
Not necessarily a thing, but I can spend hours upon hours chatting and catching up with girlfriends!
What is your favourite place to visit in Canada?
British Columbia!
